Chapter 9 on how strength training improves the majority of the body's systems is brilliant. Scott has taken complex ideas and concepts and simplified them so they are easy to understand. In addition, the tone of the book is very positive and motivational making "The Edge of Strength" the complete guide for you to reach your goals in strength and life. Absolutely loved it. It'll be my reference book for many years to come.
I admire Scott's principles, his deeply through through approach, his philosophy and his boundless passion for all things strength. The book is inspiring, informative, instructive and interesting.
The strength stack is an incredible genius concept. The strength habits, strength philosophy, nutrition guide, and all the other numerous topics flow into each other, are captivating and relevant.
I have the physical version and definitely getting the kindle and audible versions as soon as they come out.
I would recommend this to anyone who either already enjoys strength training and is looking for structure or thinking 'where to now?'. To trainers and coaches - absolutely. I'll put it right there with Dan John's fantastic books.
Definitely all listeners of Scott's podcast Rdella Training and readers of his blog - it's a must for us because the book is a distillation of Scott's philosophy.

A Relentless Focus On What Works!

The Edge Of Strength is a book I have waited for with great anticipation. I have followed Scott's work for more than 5 years and he is an absolute scholar of training. In this book, he succeeds in simplifying training concepts and methods so that both the uninitiated and advanced practitioner can access and assimilate them easily.
There is so much information here that each reader will likely be able to take away what is most beneficial to them. In the book, you will of course find sound training principles to make you stronger but also covered are diet, mobility, psychology and so much more. What really spoke to me was that he tackled aging and strength training which has been so neglected in much of what I've read. I also found very useful his categorization of strength into 5 levels as a good planning tool.
If this subject matter is completely new to you, you are lost in your training, or you just want to improve where you are at, buy this book. It is honest and insightful and Scott does not sugar-coat anything. You will learn that it is consistent hard work with a knowledgable plan that will help you achieve your goals.
