Visual Meetings, Visual Teams, and (now) Visual Leaders -- three books, each one stands on its own, yet this third in a series unites them all. I was lucky enough to be present in San Francisco when David, the author, was opening a box of books just received from the publisher. I looked on at this event (and the author's genuine excitement) before joining two members of the Grove Staff for lunch. Unfortunately, the Kindle edition falls a STAR short of a five-star rating. Why? Because there are a few formatting issues that an eBook cannot overcome. Reading the Kindle version of this book reminds me that there's no substitute for reading 2 printed pages facing each other.

It's about persuading people to act on new ideas

I have always been a big believer in systems thinking and visualization of data & concepts.

My a-ha moment in this book was realizing the disconnect between pre-prepared slides thoughtfully developed over hours or days and the amount of time audiences usually get to absorb it. No wonder nothing sticks! Instead, great ideas are far more likely to be acted upon if following a collaboratively developed picture of problems, solutions, and visions through the methods discussed in this book.

I have been recommending this book to everyone I know whose goals include persuading and gaining buy in to new ideas.

It's really leadership self-development, and intriguing...

..wow. I just finished my copy. Even the first chapters are well worth it, for anyone with leadership responsibilities at any level. The timid will learn to send their leadership messages with more clarity. The daring will learn to engage their team on a quest to articulate strategic direction visually. And all the practical tips fly at a higher (leadership) altitude than his first two books. It's thought provoking and useful leadership self-development. It is a wonderful introduction to poetry

I purchased the 2nd edition in order to get the version of the book that I studied in middle school, 50+ years ago. It is a wonderful introduction to poetry, but I can see in retrospect that the book also implanted those poems in my concsiousness and they have remained with me all these years. It is a good book even for an adult to read and understand poetry better.

The seven day sleep system

This does work and I am amazed. I really did not believe that is would work but it does. I have been working on third shift for almost ten years straight and I have not had a decent nights sleep as a fact I can only sleep about three hours maybe four hours if I am lucky. I even have to use an oxygen machine while I sleep but that is changing for me with is system. I say try it out for yourself and see what it can do for you.

Excellent book on how to cure sleeplessness. Straight to the point, with easy illustrations, Mudras and Ajurvedic healing herbs. I love this book, just like all the other books i did read by Mr. Advait. He knows his Mudras, Healing herbs and he truly wants to help you to get better and healtier. A BOOK BY THE ELDEST OF THE FOX SISTERS

Ann Leah Underhill (1814-1890) was eldest of the Fox sisters whose reports of spirit "rappings" launched the Spiritualist movement in the 19th century; Leah was the manager of her two younger sisters (the next-older sister Margaret ultimately confessed in 1888---before this book was written---to bogus "manifestations").

As her sisters' rappings became known, "Many of our visitors were anxious to learn, through the Spirits, how to make a fortune. Some wished to know the secrets of others... some wanted to know what numbers they should buy in a lottery, to be successful; others would wish to be advised in their stock speculations. To all such questions ready responses were given, but invariably ended in failures." (Pg. 52-53) After they engaged a hall to display their show, "Our career was now commenced. After all our resolving not to go any more before the public, we had been forced to let the world know what was revealed to us, and what was meant not for us alone." (Pg. 117) Later, she admits, "We received a good deal of money... but it was as freely spent as given. We, none of us, have ever been accused of the spirit of hoarding..." (Pg. 263-264)

She quotes a 1851 newspaper account which presciently stated, "the rappings... are produced by the action of the will, through voluntary action on the joints... the noises precisely identical with the 'spiritual rappings' may be produced in the knee joints." (Pg. 169) She indignantly replied to the paper, "we are very willing to undergo a proper and decent examination, provided we can select three male and three female friends who shall be present on the occasion." The examination was arranged, and "as we, Maggie and I, sat together on a sofe, and after long waiting no raps came, one of them rested his arm on the back of the sofa and actually, with his knuckles, made behind me three raps which were not a bad imitation." (Pg. 172-173) She recounts another test environment, when investigators concluded "the mediums have no more power over the sounds than the investigators have." (Pg. 259)

Regardless of one's opinion of the Fox sisters, this is must reading for anyone interested in the history of the Spiritualist movement.

Important primary source written in more difficult 19th century style

A primary source written by the eldest Fox sister, a founder of Modern Spiritualism. I gave this volume three stars because the writing style is more difficult for the 21st century reader than many other 19th century authors. I kept expecting to encounter the Lord Blackadder's 'contrafibularities,' his comedic attempt to out smart Dr. Johnson.
