Grace Livingston Hill has a touch of the divine in her writing that seeps in naturally all about the scenes and dialogues and characters. When you open her books, it is like walking into the door of a room from a hundred years ago and imbibing the fineness of character and soul that fights for a woman's honor and purity with tenderness and strength of conviction that carries through impenetrable barriers with a prayer and a hope in the dark. When her heroines break forth into the light of a sudden victory over mean-spirited people who harass them and torture their souls, the reader feels like jumping up and dancing for sheer joy that the man of Christ has conquered the fearsome devils that threaten his lady, and they are free together to cherish one another in a heavenly and gentle nurturing that adds a nobility and benediction to all of their days. You will never be sorry that you read a Grace Livingston Hill book. I love her so much and have had so many uncanny, miraculous encouragement from her that I titled my blog after her, GraceLivingstonHillGirl.com and I find her example inspiring me every day with goodness and beauty even in mundane duties.

I loved this story but I was very disgusted with that ...

I loved this story but I was very disgusted with that mother of hers. She kept trying to get Mary to submit to everything she wanted her to do even though she had been through college and was of age. She wanted her going to all kinds of parties and Mary was tired of all that. She wanted her to marry this rich guy who always wanted to take possession of Mary wherever she went and Mary was tired of him doing that. She did not love him so she wanted to go spend the summer in a place where her father was raised which was the place she inherited from her grandmother and the town was named after her family "Arden". It was a country town and her mother didn't want her going there but even though her father was on a job in China for the government he gave her his permission that she should go. She had a wonderful father but a very overbearing possessive mother. I'm glad she didn't let her mother rule her life. The book arrived on time and is in excellent condition.

Started in 1957, the competition recently celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. These fifty years can be broken down to three periods, Ancient (1957-1966), Medieval (1967-1983) and Modern (1984-2006), with very distinctive flavors which reflect what was taught in the schools of the day. The first two periods are primarily of historical interest. During the Modern period, the talented problem committee was led by the world renown problemist Murray Klamkin, and composed many innovative and challenging problems.

In this book you will find all the problems and answers for the first fifty years of the competition, up to 2005/2006 and full solutions are provided to those from the Modern period, often supplemented with multiple solutions or additional commentaries. Taken together, this unique collection of problems represent an interesting and valuable resource for students today preparing for these types of mathematics contests.

About the Author

Andy Liu received a BS degree with First Class Honors in Mathematics from McGill University in 1970. He earned his MS in Number Theory (1972) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Combinatorics (1976) from the University of Alberta, Edmonton. Dr. Liu won a Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Teaching Fellowship in 1998. He has won numerous teaching awards and is very well-known in problem-solving circles.

But He did not receive me then, and I AM ALIVE. Each morning when I look at myself in the mirror and see the scar on my head from the bullet which grazed my skull, I marvel that I am alive. Over 800,000 people from my country of Rwanda were killed in 1994 during the genocide, while numerous others continued to be exterminated through 2000--but I survived.

This was not a book....

No it was not a book, but the finale installation of a series. It seems to be all of the rage right now, write a few pages, then publish. A throw back if you will to the serial stories in ladies magazines a precursor to soap operas.

There is nothing wrong with a series. IF it stated clearly that is what it is. I'm sorry, but 27 pages is not a book. It is an installment, and should be noted as such. Amazon would be smart to start selling these under that heading.

Now to this work. From what I read, it seems that the story was getting it's wrap up.... Or was it? Apparently another "book" is in the making (oh goodie!) So, no, the story has not finished, there needs to be more income from incomplete work to be made!

The characters were developed as far as I could see, and that isn't very much considering there were only 27pages of material. You really needed to read from the start of the series. So be prepared to pay for each installment.

Personally, I would pass it up, series like this are a pain in the
A$$.

Simply amazing! It was an honest to goodness non existent stepbrotherly/stepsisterly connection from start to finish. Nicely written, happily ever after love story with a wonderful baby, wonderful parents!

Seems like it was written for an outdated version of the AWS site that is served to old clients

There's something you need to be aware about this book if you're new to AWS. It seems that it is either outdated (improvable given that it was released just a couple of days ago, but maybe they started to be write it years ago and released just now..) or it was written with an outdated version of the AWS site that is served to old AWS clients, which would be understandable if you read the authors bio at the beginning but it's an unforgivable editing oversight since the reader isn't warned about this. I'm just starting but there have been several assumptions made in the book that are just weird. For example they keep telling you to choose either EC2-VPC or EC2-Classic but EC2-Classic isn't available for new clients anymore and they don't tell you this in the book.

So far it's a good book and I will update this score when I finish reading it or find another way to contact the authors (I found no contact information regarding errata listed in the book). I was waiting to finish the book before posting but I thought I should let everyone know before everything else is drowned out by the 5 stars reviews written by people that haven't finished reading it either.

Good as reference, lot of questions, some details to improve though

Cons:
- I have to agree with one of the reviews above, there are things that are outdated or even discontinued, seems they wrote few chapters long ago and others just a month ago.
- In my opinion something worth to mention is the way they wrote the Security chapter (12). This was rather confusing if you compare with the rest of the book, e.g. they mention a service, and instead to highlight the security features use two paragraphs to describe the service and how works, advantages, etc. ( when this was already explained in previous chapters), may be good to refresh your knowledge, although in my case make me lost focus a bit. Some parts on this chapter are literally a "copy&paste" of the AWS security whitepaper, maybe that is the reason. Even in the summary part they also do the same a bit, Exam Essentials are OK though.
- The exercises are too simple or too generic, with not much explanation and referring to amazon manuals.

Pros:
- One value of this book is that it comes with the exams and a fair amount of questions.
- Is a good complement to study or to get into AWS
- Most of the book is a good digested version of whitepapers and official documentation
- The fact to be the "official study guide" wrote by some people related to the exam may give you some piece of mind when going to the test :)

Pyramid-shaped, snowcapped Mount Kailas rises more than 22,000 feet above sea level in the Himalayas of western Tibet. No climber has tainted its slopes, for Kailas has been sacred for over 1000 years. To followers of Bonpo, the pre-Buddhist animist religion of Tibet, it is the "soul" of the region; to Hindus, the throne of Shiva; to these, to Jains and to Buddhists, Kailas is the divine taken physical form. Kailas is also key to a question that once puzzled geographers: the sources of India's four great sacred rivers, the Indus, the Brahmaputra, the Sutlej and the Karnali (a tributary of the Ganges) are all found in this region. In 1987, the authors joined more than 5000 other pilgrims in circumambulating Kailas. Johnson's first-rate color photographs are placed to enhance Moran's clear and informative commentary, which concludes with a brief, wise discussion of the mountain's "secret" and what one finds there: "A mountain. The Start to a Good Series

I read this book as the begining of a series which turned out to be a waste of my time... Ms. Browning suckers one into reading the other books because this one was actually pretty good.
I'll recommend this one but don't bother on finishing the series, because the gulity party is so obivious that it hurts.
